The Ukrainian government plans to implement new contracts for military personnel this year, which will adjust salaries based on rank and assigned duties. This initiative aims to create a more equitable pay structure within the armed forces.
According to Deputy Prime Minister Yuliya Svyrydenko, the Ministry of Defense is currently auditing the existing military salary system and is developing a new model for contract service. This reform is part of broader efforts to enhance the operational effectiveness of the military.
Svyrydenko noted that discussions have already taken place with the Minister of Defense regarding the proposed contracts. “In a few weeks, we expect to present these contracts to parliamentarians, which will allow for differentiated salaries depending on the position and responsibilities of each service member,” she stated.
The forthcoming changes are anticipated to improve morale and retention within the military by ensuring that compensation is aligned with the level of responsibility and service.
