Newspaper Financial Times and the agency Bloomberg, which have read the new project of the Agreement, reported that the United States insisted on the conclusion of a new agreement with Ukraine, which will extend to all natural resources, including oil and gas, as well as the main energy assets of the country.
Kyiv will have to transfer 50 percent of income from new infrastructure projects and natural resources development to the Special Investment Fund. According to the project, the United States wants to receive the first to demand the profit that is transferred to this fund.
Washington also requires Ukraine and the US to create a supervisory board to control the joint investment fund. The United States will be able to appoint three of the five members of the Council, which will give Washington full veto in decision making.
According to FT, the United States does not offer any security guarantees in this agreement. The previous version of the agreement also did not contain those security guarantees for Ukraine that Zelensky insisted on.
Earlier this month, Ukraine and the US agreed to conclude an agreement on the development of critical mineral resources of Ukraine. Attempts to sign the agreement failed on February 28 after disputes between Trump and Zelensky in the White House.
