Ukraine offered help in overcoming the consequences of floods to six countries – Zelenskyi

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, instructed the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andriy Sibiza, to “offer assistance to neighboring countries in eliminating the consequences of flooding due to extreme rainfall.”

“Unfortunately, there are critical situations in neighboring countries as well – due to these extreme rainfalls. On my behalf, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sybiga offered the help of rescuers of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine to the relevant countries of our part of Europe,” Zelensky emphasized in his evening address on September 15.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiga noted that assistance was offered to Moldova, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary and the Czech Republic.

“Ukraine stands in solidarity with its neighbors who suffer from devastating floods. At the behest of President Zelenskyi and under the coordination of Denys Shmyhal, we offered Moldova, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary and the Czech Republic to send units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine to help overcome the disaster,” Sybiga wrote.

Bad weather is raging in Central Europe. Due to the catastrophic flood and wind in the Czech Republic, hundreds of thousands of people were left without electricity, high water began to destroy houses.

“Ukrzaliznytsia” reported that due to floods in Poland and the Czech Republic, railway operators of both countries temporarily canceled a number of flights.

In the small Polish town of Strone-Szłonski in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, a dam on the Moravka River was damaged by a flood, as a result of which the town was actually under water.

In Romania, a flood took the lives of four people. In Austria, the entire federal state of Lower Austria has been declared a disaster zone, a firefighter died during the liquidation of the flood in this land.

On September 15, the second person who died as a result of the flood was found in Poland. The body of a 42-year-old man was found at the mouth of the river in Bielsko-Biała. According to the media, the cause of death was drowning.

Due to a large-scale flood, Poland will turn to the EU for help.

The Prime Minister of the country, Donald Tusk, later announced that Ukraine offered its help in fighting the consequences of bad weather.
