This was announced by Prime Minister Yuliya Svyridenko during the hour of questions to the government on October 24.
According to the head of the government, closing the need for financing will be carried out in two ways: it is an internal reserve and external assistance from partners.
“The internal reserve is a reserve fund from which we actually allocated funds yesterday. It is also financing the banking sector of Ukraine, the activities of the Naftogaz company. The second part is the help of our partners,” explained Svyridenko.
External assistance will include grants and loans through cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Investment Bank and other institutions. Norway, in particular, has already allocated a grant in the amount of 150 million euros, and Germany has promised to provide another 60 million euros, the Prime Minister reported.
So far, the 8 billion hryvnias allocated by the Cabinet of Ministers are enough for the purchase of 300-400 million cubic meters of gas, People’s Deputy Viktoriya Syumar drew attention.
According to her, out of 13 billion cubic meters of gas stored in Ukrainian storages, 5 billion cubic meters is buffer gas (serves to ensure stable pressure in the system, is not used for heating, UNIAN).
“6 billion Ukrainian gas production is under serious threat in the winter. To pass the heating season, you need to buy at least 8 billion cubic meters,” Syumar believes.
Earlier, during question time to the government, Svyridenko refused to answer questions about the loss of domestic gas production in the hall. At the same time, the Prime Minister made it clear that this information cannot be disclosed now.
“I will give you a full answer separately, not in general,” Svyridenko also commented on the question about the volumes of gas to be imported.
The heating season in Ukraine is the main newsEarlier, the head of the Cabinet of Ministers, Yuliya Svyridenko, reported that due to massive Russian strikes on the gas infrastructure, Ukraine temporarily lost its own production. Therefore, in preparation for the heating season, 8.4 billion hryvnias were additionally allocated for the import of gas for the population.
At the same time, People’s Deputy Mykhailo Bondar believes that in the worst case scenario, there will be a shortage of gas already in December-January. So for now, the start of the heating season is in question.
