Ukraine needs fast European integration and a coordinated energy policy, - Interpipe CEO Luca ZanottiUkraine needs a smooth and fast integration into Europe and a coordinated energy policy. In such conditions, Ukrainian metallurgy will become one of the drivers of the country’s reconstruction.

This opinion was expressed by Interpipe CEO Luca Zanotti during the business panel of the 8th German-Ukrainian Economic Forum, which was held in Berlin the other day.

As the press service of the company noted, Federal Minister of Economy and Energy of Germany Kateryna Reiche and Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine Oleksiy Sobolev also joined the discussion. They discussed the prospects of the Ukrainian economy, focusing on European integration and how Europe can support the manufacturing, energy and high-tech sectors.

“Ukrainian metallurgists have demonstrated extraordinary resilience, which is a defining feature of the Ukrainian people. However, in order to develop and become one of the drivers of reconstruction, Ukraine needs smooth and rapid integration with Europe and a coordinated energy policy. It is also important to ensure equal conditions of competition with China in the Ukrainian market and to solve the problem of labor shortages. In this context, in my opinion, industry in general can play an important role in the reintegration of demobilized veterans into civilian life,” Zanotti noted.

During the forum, representatives of German and Ukrainian business, together with high-ranking officials of both countries, discussed the possibilities of bilateral cooperation. Among the key topics were sustainability, the role of the private sector in the reconstruction of Ukraine, the transformation of the defense industry, as well as promising directions for the further development of bilateral cooperation.
