According to the correspondent of UNIAN, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Australia Penny Wong stated this in Kyiv at a joint press conference with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiga.

In particular, Wong emphasized that “Russia’s illegal and immoral invasion cannot be normalized and cannot be minimized.”

“Australia is on the side of Ukraine. And we want you to win this war on your own terms. We want Ukrainians to live in peace, to have the opportunity to rebuild their lives and their homeland,” Wong emphasized.

According to her, Australia provided Ukraine with about 1.3 billion dollars in military aid. Earlier, 49 Abrams tanks and 120 Bushmaster armored vehicles were transferred to Ukraine. In the summer, Australia announced a $250 million aid package that included air defense missiles, anti-tank and other weapons.

In turn, Sybiga said that the situation on the battlefield remains very difficult and the need to strengthen Ukrainian soldiers remains extremely urgent.

“Today I requested additional military support, including the famous Australian Bushmaster’s and other weapons. We will also offer to take into account Ukraine’s needs when decommissioning the military equipment that is in service with the Australian Defense Forces,” Sybiga said.

Separately, Wong said that Australia now has the opportunity to resume the work of its embassy in Kyiv. From next month, the Australian ambassador will be in Kyiv, and the Australian embassy will be fully operational in the coming months.

Aid to Ukraine from AustraliaAs UNIAN reported, earlier Australia handed Ukraine JDAM-ER (Joint Direct Attack Munition Extended-Range) aerial bombs, which were removed from the armament of the Royal Air Force. It is reported that the use of JDAM-ER in Ukraine with the MiG-29 first became known in March 2023.
