Ukraine is actively forging significant agreements with Middle Eastern countries to enhance its defense capabilities against Iranian drone threats. Ongoing discussions are expected to strengthen military and security ties in the region.
President Volodymyr Zelensky recently highlighted the positive reception Ukraine received during his visit to the Middle East, noting a shared commitment among Gulf nations to collaborate with Ukrainian experts. He stated that this cooperation is rooted in mutual respect for the capabilities of Ukrainian forces.
“We have already established agreements that can be termed historic: Ukraine is collaborating with Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar. We are also engaging with Jordan and Kuwait. Currently, Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, is in the region continuing political negotiations, and we have received additional inquiries from Bahrain and Oman,” Zelensky reported.
In exchange for Ukraine’s defense systems and military expertise, Zelensky mentioned the anticipated security cooperation. He expressed optimism about enhancing air defense capabilities, jointly developing defense industries, and fostering energy partnerships. This includes discussions on diesel and other essential resources critical to Ukraine’s current needs.
