According to Turkish Minister Hakan Fidan, the only way to reach a truce should be the only way.

According to the UNIAN correspondent, this was discussed at the joint press conference of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sibiga and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Kiev.
According to the Foreign Minister of Ukraine, he discussed a peaceful process with a Turkish colleague and the need for a complete ceasefire, the release of prisoners.
“We are grateful with this efforts and we are looking forward to Ankara’s further support. Khakan has just returned from Moscow and he informed me in detail about what he heard and seen there. We discussed all the steps that bring peace for Ukraine,” Sibiga stressed.
In turn, the Foreign Minister of Turkey Fidan noted that his country is ready to accept the next round of negotiations between delegations of Ukraine and Russia.
Fidan considers the real possibility of holding another meeting of negotiations.
He confirmed that he came to Kiev after a visit from Moscow, and “shared his observations and assessments on negotiations.”
According to Fidan, negotiations have recently been in Istanbul, and he then noted that there were two ways before everyone. According to him, there will be a continuation of the war, or by the end of this year, a constant peace will be reached.
“We, in Turkey, consider the only way to reach peace and a truce,” Fidan said.
In his opinion, expectations for the truce and the end of the war increased, and the realization of the exchange of prisoners under the formula “thousand per thousand” showed that negotiations could lead to specifics.
“The negotiations, which took place on May 16, gave a new impetus to the peace process. On the armistice and the end of the war, the expectations increased,” Fidan said.
In addition, he confirmed that Turkey fully supports Ukraine’s sovereignty.
Also, according to Sibiga, they paid special attention with Fidan to security in the Black Sea region.
“Ukraine and Turkey have a common print – the Black Sea should be a space of peace, free trade and freedom of navigation,” Sibiga stressed.
Ukraine is grateful to Turkey for participating in ensuring the stability of navigation in the sea, in particular, mine safety and other important measures.
“We appreciate that Turkey is uninhably supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, in particular, the return of Crimea, as well as for defending the rights of the Crimean Tatar people. We know that in the interests of Turkey peace and strengthening of Ukraine as a strong and friendly state in the Black Sea region,” Sibiga said.
Peace negotiations are the latest newsAccording to UNIAN, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, who has visited Russia recently, believes that the Russian side’s unwillingness to show flexibility in the negotiation process regarding the end of the war leading against Ukraine can put it in a “disadvantage” in the eyes of the international community, in particular.
On May 28, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov, who heads the delegation of Ukraine for participation in the negotiation process to achieve a fair and sustainable peace, handed over to the assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Medinsky a document with a Ukrainian position on the steps before the truce was established. He is expecting a memorandum from Moscow in response to a meeting that he expects no earlier than June 2.
