The Turks are ready not only to give the negotiating playground, but also to speak in the negotiations.

“I think that in the coming days the parties will compromise and gather together. There is now a problem that needs to be resolved, namely, as you know, Ukrainians first require ceasefire and then start negotiations. The Russians first want negotiations and then the ceasefire.
Fidan stressed that Turkey is ready to speak both as a host site for negotiations and as an active mediator.
“We urge the parties to get together as soon as possible and agree on the ceasefire, despite the circumstances. We hope that it will happen, and our work is underway in this direction. … The situation is difficult, but it develops in a positive direction,” said the head of Turkish diplomacy.
Ultimatum about a truce and a proposal of negotiationsAs UNIAN wrote, last Saturday Ukraine and Europe made a statement that announced a unilateral beginning of the 30-day truce from Monday. If Russia does not agree to it and continue to attack, additional sanctions will be applied against it.
Reagent to this ultimatum, Vladimir Putin proposed direct negotiations between Kiev and Moscow in Turkey, but did not give a clear answer to the 30-day truce.
According to some estimates, it was a conscious manipulation to evade the ceasefire, offering the visibility of progress, but without real steps before the end of the war.
However, the President of Ukraine has taken the initiative, emphasizing that he would be waiting for Putin personally in Turkey on Thursday. In this case, the ultimatum about the 30-day truce was also left in force.
