Newly elected US President Donald Trump’s special representative for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, has postponed his trip to Kyiv and other European capitals until Trump’s inauguration on January 20. According to Reuters, this was reported by four sources familiar with the planning of the trip.

Retired Lt. Gen. Keith Kellogg originally planned to visit Kyiv to meet with Ukrainian leaders in early January, Reuters reported last month. His team also arranged meetings with officials in other European capitals, including Rome and Paris.

But the trip, which was supposed to be the first time new Trump administration officials have traveled to Kyiv since the Nov. 5 election, has been postponed, the sources said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

Kellogg is expected to arrive in Ukraine after Trump takes office, although the date has not yet been set, the sources said.

During the election campaign, Trump repeatedly said that he could end the war in Ukraine within 24 hours, but so far he has made little progress in this direction. At the same time, trying to quickly defuse the conflict remains a key priority of his new administration.

Neither Kellogg nor a representative of the Ukrainian embassy in Washington immediately responded to requests for comment.
