Oleksandr Stubb believes that Putin’s steadfastness can pave the way to a “devastating” package of sanctions from the United States.

This statement was made by President of Finland Alexander Stubb after a long conversation with his American colleague, writes The Guardian. The Finnish President expressed the opinion that Trump and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, who will say the phone tomorrow, should not decide the fate of Ukraine through the head of its President Vladimir Zelensky.
Stubb also said that if the conversation is not satisfactory, a package of anti -Russian sanctions will be submitted to the congress this week, which the senators are described as “devastating”.
“Zelensky is patient, and Trump begins to show impatience, but in the right direction, that is, towards Russia,” Stubb said.
He added that any contact of Europe with Putin will be made through the leadership of E3 of the United Kingdom, France and Germany. “At the highest level, we should not act alone,” the President of Finland said.
Stubb, one of the small group of European leaders who enjoy Trump’s support, said he used his influence to convince the White House Head to revise his opinion about Russia’s economic and military power. The publication detailed that Stubb in his recent conversation with Trump tried to explain that the Russian Federation was no longer a big state.
Stubb said Trump: “From the point of view of the Russian economy, it is less than Italy, a little greater than Spain. In military terms, she wanted to deny Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity three years ago. This year it moved less than one percentage point, its interest rate exceeds 20%, and it is possible.
It was this message that Stubb wanted to convey Trump. “It’s a difficult game, but you just need to continue to interact with the American administration,” the Finnish President commented.
Negotiations with the Russian FederationUkrainian and Russian delegations in Istanbul took place this week. They have reached an agreement on the exchange of prisoners of war in “1000 per 1000” format.
But at first it was assumed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Kremlin ruler Putin will arrive in Istanbul. Even Trump himself did not reject the opportunity to join the conversation. However, nothing happened in fact.
