Mykola Trofymenko, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, told about this during the briefing.

He noted that the introductory campaign ended on October 20. “Applications to universities have increased: 1 million 167 thousand against 1 million 55 thousand in 2024. This is an increase of 11%,” the representative of the ministry said.

98,182 people were enrolled in the budget for all educational levels – bachelor’s, master’s, and postgraduate – and 207,831 were enrolled in the contract. “The share of the budget in the total enrollment rose from 30% to 32%,” said Trofymenko.

The share of women among all enrolled increased from 44.8% to 52.3, i.e. by 7.5%. And the share of older than 25 years among all enrolled decreased from 28.4 to 23.9%, that is minus 4.5%.

Speaking about bachelors, Trofymenko said that management, psychology, philology, law and marketing are at the top of the demand structure for higher education.

“In 2025, 204 thousand 337 people were enrolled in the first courses of Ukrainian institutions of higher education, which is 5 thousand 297 people more than in the past, that is, we have a growth of 2.6%”, – noted the representative of the ministry and added that the share of contract students has increased significantly.

At the same time, the demand for master’s studies decreased by 22.3% this year, which is explained by the lower number of entrants 25+.

At graduate school, there is a sharp reduction in the share of men 25+ and a doubling of the share of women among those enrolled in the budget. “We have only 4,643 people enrolled in full-time training, which gives the right to deferment from mobilization.
