In turn, the deputy head of the CDU/CSU faction in the Bundestag Norbert Rettgen is distrustful of the readiness of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin for peace.
According to him, the conditions for the use of German soldiers as part of peacekeeping forces he “sees no”.
“He (Putin – UNIAN) does not even want a truce,” Rettgen said.
The politician believes that the pressure on the Russian dictator should be increased first. In particular, he proposed to confiscate $ 250 billion frozen assets of the Russian Central Bank and use them to support Ukraine.
At the same time, the co-chairman of the left party of Germany Jan Van Aken is categorically against any introduction of NATO troops into Ukraine, and instead stands for the mission of the UN peacekeepers.
“NATO soldiers or NATO security guarantees are not enough,” he said.
According to him, the deployment of NATO troops in Ukraine is dangerous, because after the truce, Russian invaders can start contact with them.
“We know this from all peace agreements: there are always clashes, there is a misunderstanding, there are provocations,” Van Aken said.
After all, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz positively appreciated the results of the negotiations in the White House.
“My expectations were not only met, but were outstripped. Everything could have happened differently.” These are fateful days for Ukraine and Europe, “he said.
