The minister also noted that there has been a significant increase in the number of Russian attacks on Ukraine.
As Ansa reports, he made such a statement in the Senate during the discussion on the extension of military aid to Ukraine until December 31, 2025. The Italian minister emphasized the need to support Ukraine in order to create the necessary conditions for a ceasefire.
He noted that now there is a significant increase in the number of Russian attacks, which “indiscriminately hit military and civilian objects in Ukraine.”
“Until now, the position has always been clear, we are thinking about continuing to provide support to Ukraine in order to finally create conditions for a ceasefire and open the necessary diplomatic discussion to achieve lasting peace,” the minister summarized.
Aid to Ukraine from ItalySince the beginning of the full-scale war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, Italy has provided our country with both military and financial aid.
In particular, in September, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said that his country would reinforce Ukraine with a second SAMP/T battery to protect Ukrainian civilians from air attacks.
And in December 2024, the Italian government approved the extension of the permission to supply weapons to Ukraine until the end of 2025.
In total, Italy approved 10 military aid packages for Ukraine. The other day, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, announced the preparation of a new, 11th package.
