This statement was made by French Defense Minister Sebastian Lecorton at the opening of the Defense and Strategy Forum, Le Parisien reports.
According to him, the forces of Ukraine’s defense are an important element for any future European security architecture.
Lecorton also added that Europe is now experiencing a new historical period, which is different from the Cold War and the “period of dividends of peace”, during which numerous world states are fighting for influence.
He stressed that the Paris Defense and Strategy for discussion will focus on how NATO and Western countries can protect their oriental flank if some states, or one country in particular, “in the future, will reduce their contribution to security.
Defense Forum in ParisAs reported by UNIAN, in the event, which started in Paris on March 11, are attended by headquarters and military from more than 30 countries. The forum will discuss the creation of international security forces for Ukraine.
The American delegation to Paris was not invited. The French military official explained the Associated Press that such a decision was made because in Europe they want to demonstrate that they can take responsibility for maintaining peace in Ukraine after a possible cease ceasefire.
Earlier, Lecorny reported that France intends to provide Kiev military assistance for 195 million euros at the expense of percent of frozen Russian assets.
