He stated this in an interview with Suspilne.
“They very skillfully beat the American administration, leaving this whip for us: constant war and constant shelling,” Prystaiko noted.
The former head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine expressed the opinion that Ukraine followed the correct tactics when it demanded that Russia first stop the war, and then sit down at the negotiating table and decide the details.
However, Prystaiko is sure that Russia does not want a ceasefire at the moment.
“They know that the only pressure on us is military. And as soon as we manage to knock out this argument, then I will call it serious negotiations,” the diplomat said.
He does not rule out that if Russia manages to make a major breakthrough on the front not in our favor, then emergency negotiations may take place and our country will have to agree to many things that the government of Ukraine currently rejects.
Prystayko expressed the opinion that the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is trying to behave like a tyrant and the absolute ruler of Russia.
“He is trying to behave like this, intimidating a part of society, including the elite. But all this is based on the fact that the dictator must be successful. That is why they are exaggerating their successes at the front,” the former foreign minister emphasized.
That is why, Prystayko said, the Kremlin leader presents the seizure of villages and settlements in the Donetsk region as a “grand victory.”
“He needs victory, he must show a winning streak. Otherwise, sooner or later, as they say, the refrigerator will start to beat the TV,” the diplomat added.
Peace talks: latest newsEarlier, UNIAN reported that the President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel believes that Ukraine has done “a lot” to make the decision to end the war with the Russian Federation acceptable. He added that Ukraine should make a number of concessions and is ready to make them if peace is achieved as a result. At the same time, Pavel is sure that Russia will reject the peace plan until there is economic and political pressure on it. For this, according to the president of the Czech Republic, European countries should work together with the USA.
We also wrote that the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, shared that Ukraine “worked very well” with the United States regarding peace negotiations. However, Zelensky noted that Ukraine and the USA are not on the same side in some issues. According to the Ukrainian leader, he protects the interests of his country. This is how the President of Ukraine reacted to Trump’s accusation that Ukraine is allegedly delaying the negotiation process. Zelensky added that, in his opinion, the ultimatum is not a working model in democratic relations.
