The newspaper notes that this news was announced by the speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic, the leader of the right-wing populist party SPD Tomio Okamura on Monday, December 22.
After the meeting of the Czech government coalition, Okamura said that the former head of the General Staff of the Czech Republic, appointed under the quota of his party, Jaromir Zuna, does not plan to visit Ukraine.
“The Minister of Defense did not accept the invitation to visit Ukraine that he received,” Okamura said.
When asked why the invitation was rejected, he answered that according to the agreement of the coalition parties, Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis is responsible for foreign policy.
It is added that Okamura also emphasized once again that the SPD refuses to finance the purchase of weapons for Ukraine from the Czech budget. Moreover, the Ministry of Defense of the Czech Republic must submit documents on the termination of its role in the so-called “missile initiative”.
Aid to Ukraine from the Czech Republic: latest newsEarlier, UNIAN reported that the Security Council of the Czech Republic will discuss the future of the program to supply Ukraine with artillery ammunition on January 7, 2026. It was an initiative of the Czech Republic, which provides for the purchase of ammunition all over the world with the funds of donors, in particular, Western countries, which are then delivered to Ukraine. It is noteworthy that the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, highly praised this program, as did Ukraine and the Czech Republic’s NATO allies. Czech Prime Minister Babis noted that the initiative was positive, but he added that it is not known whether there was no corruption.
We also wrote that Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis said that his country could support the idea of using frozen Russian assets in Europe to help Ukraine. However, Babis noted that Belgium’s concerns should also be taken into account. He does not rule out that the use of these assets will lead to disruption of peace negotiations on the part of Moscow. Therefore, according to the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, it would be better to attract loan funds on the financial markets.
