Georgy Tykhy, a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, told reporters.
“The Ukrainian delegation arrived in Istanbul. The meeting is scheduled this afternoon,” Tykhy said.
Negotiations in IstanbulThe day before, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky defined the delegation of Ukraine to participate in the negotiation with the international partners of Ukraine, as well as with representatives of the Russian Federation on the achievement of just and sustainable peace.
The delegation was headed by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov. The delegation also included the adviser to the Head of the Presidential Office Oleksandr Bevz, Deputy Head of Staff of the Naval Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Dyakov, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Sergey Kislytsya and others.
Zelensky identified the task in the near future, as well as the position of Ukraine before meeting in Istanbul on Monday. First, it is a complete and unconditional ceasefire. Secondly, about the release of prisoners. Third-about the return of stolen children. Also, in order to establish a reliable and prolonged peace and guarantee safety, it is important to prepare a meeting at the highest level. Only leaders can be solved by Zelensky.
Earlier, at the first of 2022, the negotiations of delegations of Ukraine and Russia, which took place on May 16 in Istanbul, was agreed on the exchange of prisoners under the formula “thousand per thousand”.
