Andriy Sybiga noted that he called to focus on options that do not include Russian gas.
Asked about the Trans-Balkan gas pipeline, which passes through Ukraine and through which Moscow can potentially restore gas supplies to the unrecognized Transnistria, the diplomat said in an interview with “Evropeyska Pravda” that this issue needs to be studied.
“I believe that the transit of Russian gas is completely unacceptable. But now we are talking about the possibility of helping the Transnistrian region through joint actions of Ukraine and the EU. This is on the agenda,” Sybiga said.
In this regard, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs called to focus on options that do not include Russian gas.
At the same time, the diplomat reminded that part of Moldova’s gas is in Ukrainian storage facilities and Kyiv is ready to continue storing gas for Chisinau.
The energy crisis in Transnistria is the main newsAgainst the background of the termination of the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine, Moscow accused “Moldovagaz” of non-payment of debts, which was the reason for the stoppage of gas supplies to Moldova.
Unrecognized Transnistria suffered the most from the actions of the Russian Federation – people were left without gas, heating and hot water. In addition, fan power outages have been introduced.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that Kyiv is ready to help the region in overcoming the humanitarian crisis, but does not see a reaction from those who control the situation in this territory. It is worth noting that earlier in the mass media there was information that the authorities of Tiraspol refused the help of the European Union.
