He admitted that he was “shocked” by the indifference of British society to matters of national security.
In an interview with The Times, Tusk warned the British that it is time to get rid of the “sweet illusion” of security in the event of a conflict between NATO and Russia. He recalled that after his visit to Kyiv, the Prime Minister of Great Britain, Kier Starmer, informed him about the arson of his house in London, which was allegedly organized by Russian intelligence.
“I was amazed that no one in Britain was shocked by this. The reaction was as if it was an Arsenal-Liverpool football match. But if the Russians are able to organize something like this, then they are capable of everything,” the Polish Prime Minister noted, adding that if Russia deploys new Oreshnyk hypersonic missiles in Belarus or Kaliningrad, Moscow will be able to launch a nuclear attack on any European capital, including London, at a range of up to 3,200 km.
The threat, according to him, is global and universal in nature, primarily due to technology. “We are all already under a massive cyber attack. In Poland, they are ready to destroy infrastructure – railways, hospitals. It can be very painful,” Tusk said.
Therefore, one cannot live in the illusion that “you are too far away and that this is not your war,” concluded the Polish Prime Minister.
