The publication shared that the re-election of Biya for a new term caused the anger of the youth and the opposition of the country. Moreover, the opposition accused the Cameroonian authorities of trying to falsify the voting results.

Shortly before the elections, large-scale protests broke out in Cameroon. During clashes with law enforcement officers in Douala, four protesters were shot dead, the publication added. More than 100 people were arrested.

According to local officials, opposition supporters organized the protests to demand credible results of the recent presidential election. On October 26, hundreds of people took to the streets in several major cities of the country after several days of unrest.
