Thus, in an interview with Politico, Dan stressed that Romania is ready to strengthen Ukraine’s support from its own territory, but considers direct military involvement in conflict “inappropriate”.

“It is not very appropriate to enter the armies that guarantee peace in Ukraine.

At the same time, he criticized Trump’s approach to finding an agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin, whose unrealistic demands, he said, promise nothing good for peace prospects.

The President of Romania stressed that when it comes to settlement, “everything concerning Ukraine must be resolved and agreed by the Ukrainians themselves,” but he does not expect a conflict in the near future.

“I am not very optimistic that the world will come very soon, and I am also glad that the Europeans have decided to continue to support Ukraine until they get the most reasonable peace for themselves,” he said.

Peacekeepers in Ukraine are the latest statementsEarlier, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that Europe is now far from talking about the placement of peacekeeping troops in Ukraine, and now all efforts are focused on ensuring an unconditional ceasefire. Czech President Peter Pavel stated that his country is not yet ready to speak publicly about sending his troops to the role of a peacekeeping contingent.

At the same time, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, has previously expressed his willingness to send peacekeeping troops, but only if the United States has supported the US security obligations.
