He announced the provision of 7 million euros to Ukraine to strengthen defense capabilities, calling this assistance a “comprehensive stability package”, and added that this assistance is coordinated by NATO. In addition, the Netherlands is transferring another 20 million euros to support the energy sector of Ukraine in the winter in conditions of enemy shelling.
Veldkamp also spoke about the course of negotiations and preparatory work regarding the new, 16th package of sanctions against the Russian Federation.
“We are beginning to see how the Russian economy is beginning to crack at the seams. That is why the sanctions should be strengthened,” he emphasized and added that during the recent conference in The Hague, the participants discussed monitoring the implementation of the sanctions already in force.
“We see that there are loopholes, there are sometimes detours. It needs to be cleaned up,” says the head of the Dutch Foreign Ministry.

For three years, according to Veldkamp, the Netherlands has provided military aid to the Defense Forces of Ukraine in the total amount of 10.2 billion euros.
Andrii Sybiga emphasized that the Netherlands is among the top five leaders of defense aid to Ukraine. He added that the kingdom’s support in anti-aircraft assistance to Ukraine is especially valuable. The Netherlands handed over Patriot installations, special radars, F-16 aircraft and so on. And recently it became known about the decision of the Netherlands to transfer one billion euros for artillery ammunition for Ukraine, Andrii Sybiga reminded, thanking him for such large-scale assistance.
During a meeting with journalists in Kyiv, Kaspar Veldkamp said that he will also meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyi and Deputy Prime Minister Olga Stefanishyna.
