“Russia’s war against Ukraine, against Europe, against the whole world. But above all, the war is on our land. It is impossible to exclude Ukraine from any winning platform. Or this negotiation platform will not have real results, but will have only political results, and such results will not be related in any way to security and the end of the war,” he said.

Zelensky added that he had “good meetings” with the President of the United States, Donald Trump, and expressed his support for his desire to succeed in a peaceful settlement:
“I am sure that he has great chances. And let’s believe that he will succeed. This can only be done with Ukraine, otherwise it simply will not work. Because Russia does not want to end the war, but Ukraine does. And this is a very important argument.”
He also added that the very format of the alleged negotiations should be fixed on paper and should involve the participation of Europe.
“What will be the platform for negotiations? Ukraine, America. I really hope that there will be Ukraine, America, Europe and (Russians – ed.). Yes, I would really like to have a European voice as well. It is important for us, because we will be members of the EU. Russian President Vladimir Putin said on January 24 that he is ready for peace talks and a meeting with US President Donald Trump. The Russian leader believes that if peace talks begin within the current legal framework, they will be illegitimate due to Ukrainian legislation, which prohibits Zelensky from conducting direct negotiations with Putin. And hinted that it would be better for them to meet together.
In response to this interview, the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andrii Yermak, emphasized that Putin is trying to promote the idea of negotiations between Russia and the United States without the participation of Ukraine and that “this will not happen.”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi previously said that Trump could play a decisive role in ending the war with Russia and help stop Putin.
Analysts of the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) proved that the Kremlin does not want to make compromises in the war against Ukraine, but wants its complete surrender.
