Schedules create ads for selling cars at an attractive price / photo ua.depositphotos.comThe main service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Cyber Police warned Ukrainians about a fraudulent scheme, in which the attackers sell non -existent cars on the Internet.
According to the report, fraudsters can demonstrate counterfeit documents, including “certificates” of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of service centers, and to convince that the transport is already on the site of the territorial service unit and only has to complete the payment.
It is noted that fraudsters create ads for selling a car at an attractive price, in particular those who are “waiting for customs” or “already in the service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs”. In order to be confident, they show counterfeit copies of registration certificates or certificates designed in service centers, and assure that the car can be taken away immediately after the payment is completed.
“Sometimes, fraudsters are appealing to socially sensitive topics, including volunteering: they offer to buy a car” for the military “and ask for urgent money for the quick design. In fact, the car does not exist, and they simply appropriate the money,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs warned.
They emphasize that no vehicles are stored in the territory of the Ministry of Internal Affairs without the participation of the owner. Registration or transactive of a car is possible only in the personal presence of the owner or authorized person.
“The algorithm is simple: after contacting the Ministry of Internal Affairs Service Center (recording is possible through E -recording), transport is undergoing a physical examination of the expert, the documents are checked, and the service is provided after confirmation of the person and payment through official channels. In no case does the” reservation “of cars before transferring funds is a sign of fraud.
In order to avoid such risks, experts advise to follow the basic safety rules and check information through official channels:
- The MIA service centers do not store cars that are expected to be designated – each service is provided only in the personal access of the owner or his official representative;
- Any “copies of documents” or “photos” sent to strangers in the messenger do not guarantee their authenticity-consider it when making a subscription;
- You should not transfer money for a car you have not seen in person, and check the seller and transport under official registers.
