As stated in the message on the website of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, medical procurement of Ukraine at the request of the Ministry of Health has concluded a contract for the purchase of a 9-Valent vaccine against human papilloma virus (HPV), which, given changes in the national calendar of preventive vaccinations, will be made from next year.
“Free vaccination against HPV infection according to a single-dose scheme, since 2026, provided for girls aged 12-13 years,” the statement said.
Igor Kuzin, Deputy Minister, Chief State Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine explained that the changes that have been implemented for the Ukrainian calendar since 2026 will allow to harmonize approaches to immunization according to European standards and to implement modern strategies.
“Vaccination against HPV infection in EU countries is part of compulsory immunization program, it is effective and important for Ukraine. Such intervention is intended to reduce the number of cancer and is a strategic solution. Pre-experts have comparatively evaluated medical technologies of 4 and 9 Valent Vaccine. He noted.
According to WHO, free single vaccination against HPV for girls on the national calendar is carried out in 75 countries. In general, HPV vaccination is included in national immunization programs in 149 countries.
The Ministry of Health explained that the 9-Valent HPV vaccine forms protection against nine types of virus: 6, 11, 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52, 58, including two types of high-oncogenic risk HPV-16 and 18, which according to WHO, account for about 70% of the cervical.
Vaccination is recommended before sexual life, because in this situation the vaccine has the highest efficiency when used to be infected.
Thus, the first deliveries of the vaccine to Ukraine are expected to be expected at the end of 2025, after which transportation will begin to the regions of Ukraine. The purchased Gardasil 9 vaccine is produced by the US company Merck Sharp & Dohme (MSD). Medical procurement of Ukraine has concluded a two -year contract with the manufacturer.
It is noted that the DCD mechanism in the Ministry of Internal Affairs has been used since 2022 to purchase important innovative and expensive drugs. Its essence is that thanks to direct negotiations with producers of original drugs, the state concludes exclusive contracts with them. Thanks to privacy, including information about the cost and quantity of the medicinal product, manufacturers offer lower than market prices.
Earlier, the MZA was concluded by DKD contracts for the purchase of drugs from such serious diseases as SMAs, congenital immunodeficiency, hemophilia, Gauzha disease, Fabri, non -plaque lung cancer, juvenile idiopathic arthritis and more.
