According to the correspondent of UNIAN, this was announced by the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Heorhiy Tyhiy, at the briefing.

In particular, the spokesperson was asked whether new forms of support for Ukraine are being discussed by the future US administration headed by Donald Trump.

“Contact with the new administration has been established, moreover, at all levels. And the issues of military support are being discussed, in particular. I understand what you mean by new forms. Ukraine is open to discussing any forms of military support. And we believe that in the interests of the United States of America – providing military support to Ukraine, and we will discuss when we have proposals or appeals from the American side. As far as I know, there are no such proposals yet,” Tykhy emphasized.

At the same time, as the spokesman said, various possible modalities are being discussed.

“I think that the specifics you want to hear will materialize after January 20. And accordingly, we will prepare,” Tykhy stressed.

He was also asked if he felt the acceleration of the delivery of military aid after the order that the current US President Joe Biden gave to the Pentagon.

“Indeed, we feel that the support packages are larger and more fragmented now. We welcome this. And we emphasize that not only the announcements are very important, but also the actual delivery of all aid to the front. This is the most important thing for us. And we hope that the stated goal is to provide Ukraine with that is allocated now, all possible assistance will be implemented. We really hope for that,” Tykhy stressed.

He added that the current administration of Joe Biden assures that their goal is to use every dollar of allocated aid for Ukraine before they leave office on January 20.

The spokesman noted that it is difficult to say whether there are risks that something from the $60.8 billion package will not be delivered to Ukraine.

“As far as we know, the American side is really making every effort to make this happen,” Tykhi said.

In addition, he was asked if Ukraine is discussing a plan with European leaders to also speed up military aid if American aid stops after Trump’s January 20 inauguration.

“We are working to ensure that support is maintained from the United States and other partners,” Tykhi said.

At the same time, regarding European partners, the spokesperson said that Ukraine’s position is very simple:

“In communication with them, we emphasize that regardless of the course of the new US administration, everyone will only benefit from greater defense self-sufficiency in Europe. Therefore, Europe needs to rapidly increase defense production and generally understand responsibility for its own security. Everyone will only benefit from this “.

He believes that Ukraine is and will be of key importance in this process, because it is the key defensive muscle of Europe.

According to him, Ukraine emphasizes the need to integrate defense industries, integrate Ukraine into NATO and invest in the Ukrainian defense complex.

According to the Financial Times, Donald Trump’s team informed European officials that the new US president plans to maintain military aid to Ukraine.

Three people familiar with the negotiations said that while earlier on the campaign trail, Trump promised to end aid to Ukraine and force Kyiv to begin immediate peace talks, he now intends to continue supplying U.S. arms to Kyiv after his inauguration.
