The department stated that it “categorically rejects hints” that Ukraine was involved in a cyberattack on the medical insurance company General Health Insurance.
“Once again, we call on the Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, to stop looking for imaginary enemies in Ukraine, which is friendly to Slovakia and the Slovak people,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
Earlier on January 24, the Slovak publication Dennik N reported that Fico, commenting on the cyber attack on the medical insurance company General Health Insurance, mentioned Ukraine and the European Union. He also expressed his belief that “representatives of the opposition, non-governmental organizations based abroad, instructors from abroad and the media” were involved in the attack.

At the same time, the publication stated that it was about phishing, and not a “massive cyber attack”, and noted that Fitso did not provide evidence of Ukraine’s involvement or the opposition in this event.
In more than 20 cities of Slovakia, mass demonstrations against the pro-Russian policy of the government of Prime Minister Robert Fico have been going on for several days.
The day before, Fico said that an organized group of people, which receives funding from abroad and is connected to the Slovak opposition, is planning a “coup d’état”.
The opposition is demanding the resignation of Fico’s government, including over his trip to Moscow to meet with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in December 2024. The Prime Minister of Slovakia is in conflict with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, exchanging sharp statements with him.
