According to her, the government will definitely not delay this issue. “In the coming days, as the temperature drops, local authorities will make decisions about the start of the heating season in their regions,” she said, RBC-Ukraine reports.
In addition, during a joint press conference with the Minister of Energy of Germany, Kateryna Reiche, Grynchuk stated that the Ukrainian energy system is now much better prepared for winter than at the beginning of a full-scale invasion, Live News reports.
“After October 10, 2022, when the Russian Federation began massive strikes on energy facilities, those were probably the most difficult months… long-term, sometimes round-the-clock blackouts. But today, it was possible to restore a significant part of the electricity generation, transmission and distribution system,” she said.
Grynchuk noted that physical protection and air defense systems work effectively, and energy workers restore damaged objects around the clock.
“If it weren’t for the protective structures we built, the consequences of the current attacks would be much more severe. However, when more than 100 or even 200 drones fly at one object, it is impossible to avoid damage,” the minister stated.
Heating season in UkraineAs UNIAN reported, the government allocated UAH 8.4 billion for additional gas imports for the population in preparation for the heating season. Prime Minister Yuliya Svyridenko reported that such a decision is part of preparations for winter in conditions of Russian shelling.
Before that, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that in case of complications, Ukraine should be ready to find $2 billion for gas. He emphasized that the government knows where to get such funds and where to import gas. Zelensky noted that there are relevant agreements with Slovakia and US energy companies.
