He noted that for three years the Ministry of Defense has been and remains the largest purchaser of drones in Ukraine.
“If in 2023 the Ministry of Defense purchased thousands of drones, then according to the results of 2024, together with the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine, Ukraine purchased more than 1.5 million drones,” Kanevsky said.
According to him, 96% of the amount paid were received by Ukrainian manufacturers and suppliers. It had a positive effect on the development of the Ukrainian UAV production industry.
“This year the figures will be even larger, because the capacity of domestic defense in 2025 is about 4.5 million FPV-punks. And the Ministry of Defense plans to buy them all,”-Kneevsky stressed.
He added that all the procurement plans for 2025 received budgetary funds. This will allow you to saturate the front of unmanned aerial vehicles as soon as possible.
He also noted that the license production of drones at one of the state -owned enterprises, which the Ministry reported in January this year, would have a positive impact on competition. The minimum margins and control by the ministry will induce other suppliers at all stages of production.

The First Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Ivan Havrylyuk stated last month that Ukraine is prevailing Russia in the manufacture of FPV-punks. He reported that since February 24, 2022, more than 1,300 new weapons and military equipment production of Ukrainian enterprises have been codified for the needs of the Defense Forces. Of these, the largest group is the BPAC (unmanned aviation complex – UNIAN) and ammunition to them. According to him, only in 2024 only 250 new UAV samples of different types and purpose were admitted to the defense units.
