BZVP for students will last 300 academic hours and will consist of two parts – theory and practice.
The training will consist of two parts: 90 hours of theory in educational institutions, and the remaining 210 hours – practice in military units and centers.
As Melnyk noted, all students – both men and women – must pass the theory. The practical course is mandatory only for men who are fit for military service due to their health. Women will practice only at their own will and after passing a medical examination.
The course includes:
- tactical, intelligence and psychological training
- the basics of military discipline
- pre-medical assistance
- handling weapons.
After passing the BZVP, students will take a military oath and receive a certificate and a military accounting specialty, the Ministry of Defense informs.
Basic military training in Ukraine – current newsAs reported by UNIAN, on January 15 of this year, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi signed the draft law approved by the Verkhovna Rada on amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On Military Duty and Military Service” regarding the features of taking Ukrainian citizens into military registration No. 12076. The document, in particular, envisages the systematic introduction of basic military training for students seeking higher education.
Earlier, Deputy Minister of Education and Science Mykhailo Vynnytskyi expressed the opinion that third-year students will undergo basic military training:
“Obviously, we are not talking about first-year students, because they are mostly 17-year-olds. It is most likely that we are talking about the 3rd year, because these are already adult boys.”
At the same time, he stressed that this is absolutely not related to mobilization, but “it’s just that a person who graduates from higher education should be able to handle a weapon, should know where meetings are held in case of need, how to defend oneself and provide first aid.”
The Chairman of the Council of Reservists of the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Ivan Tymochko, noted that this year all men aged 18 to 25 will undergo basic military training.
Also, as reported, young boys in Ukraine who turn 17 must register for the military. Until the age of 18, those who do not register face administrative responsibility – a fine in the amount of 17 to 25.5 thousand hryvnias.
