“ʼWe, we, deputies and deputies of the Kyiv City Council, express the unlawful and immoral actions of the chairman of the Desnyansk Regional State Administration, and we consider Maxim Bakhmatov no confidence and consider it impossible to cooperate with him as a representative of the central government, which is executed by the Kyiv City Council. In this regard, we appeal to you, Mr. President, as a person who appoints and dismisses the heads of district state administrations, demanding to immediately release Maxim Bakhmatov immediately from the post of head of the Desnyansky District State Administration of Kyiv. We also appeal to the first lady of Ukraine Elena Zelenskaya to publicly support the position on preventing violence in politics and ensuring equal rights and respect for women in power, “the Kyiv City Council said.
Deputies also insist on immediate response and emphasize that the further “stay of Maxim Bakhmatov as the chairman of the Desnyansk Regional State Administration is discredited by state authorities and personally of the President of Ukraine.”
Earlier, the Kyiv City Council’s decision to appeal to the President on the dismissal of Bakhmatov was supported by the Commission on Regulation, Deputy Ethics and Prevention of Corruption.
As it was reported, on August 27, the head of the Desnyanskiy district of the capital Maxim Bakhmatov, during a public event, attacked the deputy of the Kyiv City Council, the deputy mayor of Kiev Anna Starostenko because she wanted to take the word and approached the microphone.
Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko urged the President’s office to give an assessment of a member of his team, and law enforcement officers – to qualify the actions of this official by law.
The Vitaliy Klitschko Party, which ran to Kyiv City Council Anna Starostenko, also requires Bakhmatov’s immediate release.
