In general, during 2026, teachers’ salaries will be increased by 50%. Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyridenko announced this in her Telegram channel.
Teachers’ salaries will be increasedShe said that from January 2026, teachers’ salaries will be increased by 30%. According to her, for the implementation of the decision, the budget has already provided funding for the first 8 months of next year.
“UAH 91.8 billion of educational subvention is distributed among local budgets, an additional UAH 21.4 billion was redirected to correctly ensure the increase without increasing the general expenses of the state budget,” Svyridenko shared.
The Prime Minister noted that the next stage will be to increase teachers’ salaries by another 20%. This will happen from September 2026.
In addition, Svyridenko said that more than 409 thousand teachers will receive monthly supplements for working in unfavorable working conditions in the period from January to August 2026. She noted that 10.37 billion hryvnias have been allocated for this within the budget of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
“At the same time, the MES updates educational programs and implements modern practices within the framework of the New Ukrainian School, so that financial decisions work directly for the quality of education,” the Prime Minister added.
Update of shelter financing rulesSvyridenko also said that the Procedure and conditions for granting subventions for shelters were updated in order to improve the efficiency of the procedure for arranging shelters in general secondary education institutions. She noted that the state will directly finance the objects with a readiness of 60% without increasing the cost of the projects at the expense of the state budget.
Svyridenko clarified that the allocation to new facilities will be carried out in accordance with the maximum volumes determined for the territories according to the levels of security risk in the education system:
- very high – 40%;
- high – 35%;
- moderate and satisfactory – 25%.
What will be the minimum salary for teachers in 2026Earlier, the chairman of the financial committee of the Council, Danylo Hetmantsev, said that the minimum salary for teachers in Ukraine in 2026 will be 21 thousand hryvnias. He emphasized that teachers still receive one of the lowest salaries.
Minister of Education and Science, Oksen Lisovyi, during the Question Hour for the Government in the Verkhovna Rada, outlined other problem areas and possible sources of financing teachers’ salaries. According to him, preschool education, after-school education, teachers of professional disciplines, masters of professional training in vocational schools and professional colleges remain unreached today.
