The former head of the Luhansk region appears in the case of theft of money for military procurement.
Sergei Gaidai no longer heads Mukachevo district / photo t.me/luhanskavtsaAgainst the background of the report of Sergei Gaidai’s detention in the case of corruption, the Cabinet of Ministers agreed to his dismissal from the post of head of the Mukachevo district state administration. This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian government.
“At an extraordinary meeting of the Government, it was decided to send the President a draft order to dismiss from the post of head of Mukachevo district state administration, Sergei Gaidai,” the statement reads.
The reasons for the release are not specified. There is also no information about a possible successor.
Who is Sergei GaidaiSergey Gaidai is a native of Severodonetsk in Luhansk region. In 2015–2018 he was the chairman of the Mukachevo district administration in Transcarpathia. From October 25, 2019 to March 15, 2023, Gaidai headed the Luhansk Regional State (Military) Administration. In 2022 he was one of the most recognizable official speakers about the situation at the front, in the frontline and in the occupied territories.
After his dismissal in March 2023, Gaidai was appointed March 15, 2024 by the head of the Mukachevo District State Administration, which he once headed.
Today it became known that Sergei Gaidai was detained in the framework of the investigation of a criminal case on theft of money and bribery in the purchase of drones and systems of RB. According to the media, on Monday, it seemed to be appointed head of one of the regional state administrations. To do this, he would have to be dismissed from the post of the head of the Mukachevo Regional State Administration.
