Funds will be distributed among the regions in three stages.

As Prime Minister Yulia Svyridenko reported, from now on the following can receive funds to cover housing rent:

  • defenders who have lost or have damaged housing in the temporarily occupied territories;
  • war veterans from among IDPs who do not have their own housing or lived in houses that were not their property;
  • persons who were deprived of personal freedom by the aggressor state in connection with the defense of Ukraine, and who returned from captivity and whose housing remained in the territory occupied by the Russian Federation.

You can submit an application through the structural divisions of the veterans’ policy or TsNAP at the place of rented accommodation.

The Ministry of Veterans Affairs reported that in this way, all veterans who lost their homes as a result of Russian aggression will have the opportunity to receive funds from the state to cover housing rent.

“The funds will be distributed among the regions in three stages: by March 15, June 15, and October 15 – so that the payments arrive on time. The compensation can be extended for another 6 months if the Defenders/Defenders do not have other housing,” the message reads.

Also, according to the Prime Minister, a special status of the subject of veteran entrepreneurship is being introduced so that veterans have access to special programs of financial support, grants, benefits and other tools for the development of their own business. The algorithm for obtaining the status will additionally notify the Ministry of Veterans Affairs.

In addition, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the state program “Veteran. Work” for 2026-2027. It covers professional adaptation, retraining, employment support, and development of career opportunities after service.

“We are developing the digital platform “Career of a Veteran”, which already has more than 65,000 vacancies, more than 3,000 registered veterans and almost a thousand employers. It helps to combine military experience with civilian competencies and find the best position for your knowledge and skills,” Svyridenko added.

Veterans Services – Latest NewsIn July 2025, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the law on veteran entrepreneurship. This law defines what a veteran business is and provides for preferential lending, compensation, grants, lease of state property without an auction, and priority in state procurement.

Also, in 2025, the Ministry of Veterans Affairs launched a program under which combatants and veterans with disabilities as a result of the war will be able to receive 1,500 hryvnias each quarter to pay for sports activities.
