Kendall stressed Trump’s statement that the F-47 export version sold to allies may have reduced opportunities.

Former Air Force Minister Frank Kendall said that US allies would want to buy a future invisible fighter because of the high expected value and fears about the United States’s obligations to its ancient alliances.
Kendall, who left his post in January, said that the price of a plane, which can be up to $ 180 million per unit, which may be about twice as in the F-35, can repel US Allies.
“I would be very surprised if any of our partners were ready to pay this value per unit of a new aircraft,” he said.
F-47 Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) will be expected to fight by the end of the decade.
“The goal is to develop a new sixth -generation fighter with unsurpassed capabilities and air combat, including the ability to fly with unmanned controlled drones to give the US Air Force a technological advantage to reflect new threats,” the article reads.
Kendall said that the attitude of the Trump administration to ancient allies, such as Canada and dozens of European countries, may make some people doubt the expediency of further investments in truly expensive American weapons such as the future F-47. He said:
“Another factor now, of course, is that the attitude we have taken on our allies forces many of them to rethink the degree of cooperation and commitment, as well as dependence on US sources of equipment.”
Kendall stressed that Trump’s statement that the F-47 export version sold to allies may have reduced opportunities, as today’s allies may not become so in the future.
“We have traditionally very close allies, and we share with them some of our best opportunities because we trust them. This administration does not seem to share this point of view,” the ex -minister said.
Interestingly, the F-47 is designed for flights along with autonomous drones known as Collborative Combat Aircraft. But Kendall said there was a question about how these drones will work with future man -made fighters. He added:
“There is no readiness, confidence in unmanned aircraft at the moment to put the bet completely on them, right? And I tend to share this point of view.”
Kendall is convinced that the US urgently needs to modernize its Air Force, where the average age of the aircraft is about 30 years.
F -47 aircraft – what is knownPresident Donald Trump has announced this month that Boeing was elected to build a new F-47, winning a $ 20 billion contract with a competitor Lockheed Martin. The price of Boeing has increased after the announcement, adding $ 4 billion to market value.
It is ready to replace the F-22 Raptor, the fifth-generation fighter to conquer air dominance/air preferences, which has been in service since 2005. Another fifth -generation fighter – Lockheed F -35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter – was developed as part of a multinational program. Numerous allies are now flying on this aircraft.
