The Office is trying to attract citizens as much as possible to leave applications in the register of losses.

Ukraine may apply to the International Register of Losses demanding to compensate for the losses caused by military aggression / ReutersUkraine may apply to the International Register of Losses demanding to compensate for the losses caused by military aggression / ReutersUkraine will be able to generate the total amount of damage caused by the actions of the Russian Federation, thanks to applications to the register of losses from the persons affected. Then lawsuits will be filed with the International Register of Losses and the International Compensation Commission.

This was stated by a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Mykola Yurlov during a roundtable in UNIAN on “Arrested assets of the Russian Federation: international legal grounds and prospects of use in favor of Ukraine”.

He recalled that the concept of an international compensation mechanism for all victims of Russian aggression in Ukraine was developed.

“It is not only citizens of Ukraine, it is natural persons of any citizenship, legal entities, including foreign, in the territory of Ukraine. Due to aggression, “Yurlov explained.

At the same time, Anna Vlasyuk, an expert of the Kyiv School of Economics, explained whether Russia will be able to file a lawsuit with the EU countries, in connection with the mobilization of Russian assets or with a repair loan, or with confiscation of assets.

“The answer is not. And it is very simple, because there is no international treaty that would establish the jurisdiction of the International Court of Justice in relation to Russia in relation to such a nature of the dispute,” she said.

According to her, the UN International Court of Justice looks very closely at every case that comes and analyzes whether it can take it from the provisions of a particular contract.

“There are cases where the court does not accept the case, even if there is a treaty and provisions sent to the UN International Court of Justice. But a specific issue, in the court’s opinion, may not be covered by this treaty, so it rejects the hearing of the case. Therefore, we do not even have, according to my analysis and analysis of other colleagues.

Confiscation of frozen assets of the Russian Federation is the latest newsAccording to UNIAN, the European Commission has introduced a plan that should allow EU governments to use up to 185 billion euros ($ 216.76 billion) – most of the 210 billion euros of Russian sovereign assets currently frozen in Europe. Reuters noted that this could happen without confiscation, which is a “red line” for many capitals and the European Central Bank.

The other day, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the frozen assets of the Russian Federation should be directed to financing the production of weapons for the Defense Forces of Ukraine. In part, those funds can be directed to social needs for Ukraine. The appropriate solution may appear by the end of the year.
