The European Union has approved recommendations for Member States on how to make Ukrainian refugees after the war. Kyiv was involved in the preparation of these recommendations. This was reported by a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Georgy Tykhy during a briefing.
“We are now waiting for the final text of this recommendation. It (document) has not yet been made public. But I can confirm that first, the European side has consulted with Ukraine in preparation of this recommendation. We were involved in this process, we had some proposals for our part that it should be there.
According to him, it is not about some coercion, but it is about, rather, providing the EU member member opportunities, how to give our citizens more predictable political statuses.
“On July 15, the EU Council continued the Provisional Protection Directive for Citizens of Ukraine until March 4, 2027. This decision is valid. The current recommendation will only expand the opportunities for Member States, what status to grant the Ukrainians,” the Tyki explained.
At the same time, the department emphasized that the Government of Ukraine will stimulate the return of citizens home, because the country needs people who will live, work and develop the state. The Foreign Ministry spokesman added that for those who are abroad, consular institutions will continue to provide the necessary support.
