Oleg Pasternak says that Russia is afraid of angering Trump so that he does not agree to provide Ukraine with more weapons.
He noted that the main interest of Trump directly is to show his greatness, to seat Ukraine and Russia at the negotiating table and to “squeeze out” the maximum PR effect of the type “I did not allow the 3rd World War”. There will be no negotiations until Trump takes office, Pasternak emphasized.
“Trump is not yet president until January 20. The next three months will be a test of each other, a sense of each other (parties). Who can move where and how. As soon as Trump becomes president, the process can be started immediately,” – said Pasternak.
He emphasized that Trump is an impulsive, eccentric and very narcissistic person.
“Russia is afraid to anger Trump now. That’s why they are behaving very carefully. They will behave quite carefully, studying how Trump will react. That is what I associate today’s missile alarm, when the MiGs took off and took off. That is, it is a kind of diplomatic check , how will Trump react to all these flare-ups of escalation that Putin is artificially creating in order to keep the initiative,” said Pasternak
He emphasized that before negotiations begin, there must be conditions for them to begin. And Trump will have to figure out which agreement will satisfy Ukraine and Russia so that they sit down at the negotiating table.
In his opinion, most likely, Trump’s meeting with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi will take place even before the inauguration, since the establishment of personal, working, direct, effective relations between the first persons of the state is a high priority for Ukrainian diplomacy.
Pasternak noted that Trump lacks Russian understanding, so it will not be possible to organize negotiations without a personal conversation with Putin. He added:
“If we look at Putin’s different positions, then he declares that he wants the entire Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions, then he starts talking about returning to a certain “Istanbul”, then some other fantasies… Trump needs an understanding of where Putin can make compromises, and where he is bluffing and there will be no compromises.”
War in Ukraine – Trump’s positionAs UNIAN reported, Republican Donald Trump won the US presidential election. During the election campaign, he declared that after taking office he would quickly end the war in Ukraine. It even prompted several major bookmakers to open up bets on whether Trump could achieve that goal.
In a recent article, the Associated Press writes that President-elect Donald Trump plans to bring Russia and Ukraine to the negotiating table on his first day in office.
Today, November 11, in the morning, after a long pause, Russia simulated a massive missile attack on Ukraine. The aggressor country launched up to 13 Tu-95MS, which are carriers of cruise missiles, and three MiG-3s, which could hit with Dagger aeroballistic missiles. The planes went to the launch lines and performed launch maneuvers, but only simulated strikes.
