253 people’s deputies voted for the adoption of this document at the meeting on November 21.
It provides that, during the martial law, servicemen who voluntarily left military units for the first time, but later voluntarily arrived at the place of service, the contract continues. Cash payments are also being renewed.
On the other hand, initiated criminal proceedings regarding voluntary desertion of military units are not grounds for refusing the continued service of such servicemen and the validity of their contracts, Zheleznyak added.
In August, the Ukrainian parliament approved a law that proposes not to punish the first voluntary desertion of a military unit (SZCH) or desertion, if the soldier returns on his own and the commander allows him to continue his service.
