At the same time, as El Mundo writes, the meeting was organized under conditions of maximum secrecy.
“Participants were warned that mobile phones are prohibited (they will need to be handed over to a special place), and they are also asked not to disclose information about the meeting on public platforms or social networks,” the publication writes.
It is noted that the summit will begin at 9 a.m. and end after 3:30 p.m., with two blocks of discussions on providing aid to Kyiv.
In the first block, participants will discuss how to meet Ukraine’s urgent financial needs, particularly related to its military and defense efforts, as well as how to coordinate initiatives aimed at increasing pressure on Russia. Among other things, it is planned to define aid priorities and reach agreements.
In the second block, the parties will try to develop a general approach to security guarantees for Ukraine, and will exchange views on the current discussions regarding security guarantees for Ukraine, paying special attention to legal, political and diplomatic aspects, as well as the possible contribution of the Coalition of the Willing in deterring future aggressive actions by Russia.
Updated 14.47. At the same time, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Heorhiy Tykhiy, in a comment to journalists, said that there is nothing “secret” in this meeting, because the Spanish newspaper presented the information incorrectly.
“Here, the information provided by the Spanish newspaper is incorrect. This is a regular meeting at the level of political directors, with an appropriate agenda. There is nothing “secret” or extraordinary about it. We are in contact with the Spanish side regarding the preparation of this meeting and will be in contact with its results,” Tyhiy noted.
