“The new draft US agreement indicates that the intention to create a fund or to invest jointly remains,” she said.
It is planned that the Ukrainian negotiation delegation will include representatives of four ministries – economics, foreign affairs, justice and finance.
At the end of March, the media spread the content of a new version of the Agreement proposed by the Americans. It caused indignation to the public due to harsh conditions for Ukraine, which journalists and experts called the booth. Ukrainian officials are more cautious in the comments.
“What we have now is a document that reflects the position of the US Finance Ministry.
According to her, Ukraine intends to identify its red lines and the basic principles on which the agreement should be based.
“It is clear that the complete parameters of this agreement cannot be discussed on the Internet. We need to sit down teams and continue the conversation personally. Eventually everything will be resolved during the negotiations,” the minister said.
Sviridenko refused to reveal how official Kyiv actually perceived the version of the agreement proposed by Americans. According to her, there was a more detailed document on the creation of a joint fund for managing income from Ukrainian resources, in which Americans have outlined their vision of its structure and functioning.
“We are very focused on the final draft of the agreement after the negotiations are fully in line with our strategic interests. I believe that working on the previous memorandum showed that both teams are capable of achieving these goals and agreeing on conditions acceptable for both parties,” Sviridenko said.
Ukrainian Resources Agreement: The latest news According to UNIAN, at the end of March the United States handed over to Kiev a new version of the mineral agreement. Soon its content became known to the general public. There was a lot of criticism about this document immediately, as it not only gave the United States a primary right to profit from Ukrainian resources, but also in fact referred to the US management of deposits and any new infrastructure projects in Ukraine.
Analysts have noted that in this form the agreement will block Ukraine’s path to the European Union. Some even suggested that this was a true goal of Americans.
Even President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was forced to publicly declare that the US agreement should not interfere with Ukrainian European Integration.
