The Prime Minister noted that the Cabinet of Ministers is actively developing existing veteran programs and constantly introducing new ones.
This was said by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal today during the government meeting. He noted that the CMU is submitting to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine a draft law on a fair approach to determining payments to the families of fallen defenders.
He also informed at the government meeting that the CMU actively develops existing veteran programs and constantly introduces new ones.
The official noted that next year, UAH 10.5 billion will be allocated to support veterans in the state budget:
“At the beginning of the full-scale war, many Ukrainians took up arms and defended the state as civilians. For the death of such civilians, a payment of 1.9 million is provided. We propose to increase it to 15 million hryvnias.”
According to him, almost 4.5 thousand veterans and members of their families will be provided with housing this year thanks to the record financing of this direction in the state budget. Also, veterans receive preferential mortgages within the framework of the “eOsel” government program.
Shmyhal noted that the government provides funds under the YeRobota grant program, helping to create more than 1,100 new veteran businesses.
Also, 7,000 veterans and servicemen have already benefited from the new dental prosthetics and dental treatment program, and next year the government plans to further expand the package of medical services.
The head of the government noted that the “veteran’s assistant” service, which promotes adaptation to civilian life, will be fully operational next year. Almost UAH 3 billion is provided for this in the budget.
Important news of Ukraine – what was reportedAs UNIAN reported, in October 2024, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a law recognizing a veteran’s e-ID card as the main document confirming veteran status. It will be possible to receive a paper veteran’s certificate upon request.
The transition to e-identity as the main document will help speed up the provision of services, reduce the time for status verification, which will improve the quality of service for veterans and their families.
The Ministry of Veterans explained that thanks to the voted draft law, servicemen who were injured during the defense of Ukraine will be able to receive the status of a person with a disability as a result of the war.
