The Cabinet of Ministers allowed the sale of medicines in gas station premises / photo: UNIANThe Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted a number of decisions to reduce drug prices and ensure the availability of drugs for people, the Ministry of Health reported on Facebook.
It is indicated that prices in pharmacies of medical institutions will be at the lowest prices.
“Pharmacies in state and communal hospitals are obliged to sell, among drugs with the same composition, dosage and form of release, only drugs with the three lowest prices specified in the National Price Catalog,” the message states.
It is also reported on the granting of a permit for retail trade of non-prescription drugs at gas stations.
The agency explained that it is possible to sell over-the-counter drugs in the premises of gas stations with a license and on the condition that:
- Compliance with the conditions of storage of medicines;
- If the acceptance and quality control of medicines will be carried out by an authorized pharmaceutical specialist;
- Setting up a zone in the premises of the gas station for proper storage of medicines separately from other goods.
The Ministry of Health added that the government also allowed the sale of over-the-counter drugs in gas station premises through vending machines. However, the condition of compliance with the requirements for storage and incoming control of medicines is again put forward.
It is explained that the purpose of such a decision is to reduce the prices of non-prescription drugs, as well as to make them more accessible where pharmacies are unstable or absent.
The publication noted that gas station networks have the technical capabilities for stable operation in conditions of power outages.

The service will include an instrumental examination, electrocardiogram, pressure measurement, laboratory tests of blood and urine, a doctor’s examination, etc.
