Britain is expanding military support for Ukraine by providing £7.5 million (over $9.5 million) in funding for strike and reconnaissance drones, the British government website says.

“Today the government announced further military support of £7.5m for new strike and reconnaissance drones, to be invested through a drone development coalition led by the UK and Latvia and taken from an annual £3bn funding pool” , – stated in the message.

The aid is said to be in addition to the £120m announced by the Prime Minister last month for Ukraine’s Navy and Maritime Forces, which will go towards funding unmanned surface ships and maritime surveillance drones.

“This additional support provides another significant boost to strengthening the capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the face of Putin’s illegal war of aggression. Over the past weekend, Russia launched more than 120 missiles and 90 drones at Ukrainian infrastructure facilities, which led to the deaths of civilians in eastern Ukraine,” the post states.

On November 19, during a speech in the Verkhovna Rada, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that at least 30,000 long-range drones will be produced in Ukraine next year at Ukrainian technological facilities. The task has also been set to make at least 3,000 cruise missiles and drone missiles.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, Ukraine has been trying to increase its own production of weapons, partly producing them together with partners.

According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, Ukraine already produces 155-caliber ammunition, long-range and maritime drones. Also, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced that Ukraine is embarking on “significant” volumes of production of artillery systems and armored vehicles.
