“We thank the Georgian authorities for everything, in particular for not imposing sanctions against the Russian Federation for the invasion of Ukraine and helping the common aggressor to circumvent them, turning their country away from the path of integration into the EU and NATO into the Russian yoke, constant disparaging comments towards Ukraine,” Tykhi said.
At the same time, he wished the Georgian people “a European future, security and prosperity”, even “despite the current government’s pro-Russian policy”.
Accusations of Georgia towards Ukraine: what is knownEarlier, Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili said that Tbilisi sees the “unfriendly” attitude of the Ukrainian authorities towards the people of Georgia. He also stated that Ukraine is trying to involve Georgia in the war against Russia.
“First of all, this is a great ingratitude that we observe on the part of the Ukrainian leadership. The Ukrainian authorities have already received comments from the office of one of the presidents that when you receive support, you should first of all express gratitude and not show ingratitude. Unfortunately, Zelensky’s government is distinguished by its ingratitude towards the Georgian people,” Papuashvili said.
As UNIAN reported, parliamentary elections were held in Georgia last year, in which the “Georgian Dream” party won. In particular, she is accused of a pro-Russian course and falsifications during the elections. After the victory of the party, mass protests took place in the country. Also, relations between Georgia and the West deteriorated sharply after that. So, for example, Tbilisi froze negotiations on the country’s accession to the EU until 2028.
