She proposed to start with “quiet diplomacy”. The head of Slovenia stated this in an interview with Politico.

“One of the mistakes of the European Union is that we have stopped communicating with Russia. The EU should appoint a group of wise men and women who will begin” quiet diplomacy “with Russia as the first step to a direct dialogue,” she said.

According to Pirz Mussar, the EU “is not perceived as a politically strong group” because of the rejection of direct interaction with Russia, Hungary and Slovakia. She believes that Europe should focus its efforts to invite its negotiations with the US, Russia and Ukraine.

“Europe has no other choice than to continue the dialogue. Even if negotiations with Russia have not yet produced results,” Slovenia President emphasized.

Pirz Musar added that she had already discussed the possibility of restoring negotiations with the Kremlin with the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Lien during their meeting in Brussels. According to her, von der Liaien assured her that the EU is already working on this issue.

According to “European Truth”, the European Union’s main press secretary Paul Pinho at a briefing in Brussels stated that the block seeks to gather all stakeholders, including Russia, at the negotiating table. So she commented on the statement of Pytz Musar.

“What we can confirm is that we are interested in gathering all partners at one table – all stakeholders to discuss the ceasefire and the peace. This is what we are interested in,” Pinho said.

Negotiations to end the war are important newsEarlier, Reuters, citing three high -ranking sources in Russian structures, wrote that Russia did not view the Vatican as a serious platform for peace talks with Ukraine. According to them, the reason is that the Holy Throne is the center of Catholicism and is surrounded by Italy, which is a member of NATO and the European Union.

In addition, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Kislytsa said that during the negotiations in Istanbul, the Russian delegation directly stated to the Ukrainian side that the unconditional ceasefire for them was unacceptable. He shared that the directives of the Russian delegation did not provide for the possibility of agreement on the truce.
