The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that liars should not be taken at their word.
According to the correspondent of UNIAN, the position was expressed at the briefing by the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Heorhiy Tykhy.
In particular, he was asked to comment on Putin’s statement that Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico had allegedly offered to use his country as a platform for negotiations.
“I suggest not to believe the liars at their word,” Tykhy emphasized and called such tricks a permanent tactic of the Russian Federation.
At the same time, according to him, ideas and proposals from various parties and leaders about possible platforms for negotiations are regularly heard and seen in the information space in Ukraine.
“We emphasize once again: Ukraine needs a comprehensive, sustainable and just peace. There is a Peace Formula process. We call on all parties who want to help with efforts in this process to play their role,” Tykhiy said.
According to him, restoring peace is a complex task in many dimensions. All countries can find a role for themselves in these efforts to truly bring peace closer.
At the same time, Tykhi commented on the statement of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Sergey Lavrov, that France allegedly proposed some kind of dialogue with Russia regarding the war.
“We believe that there is no reason to believe another Russian lie. But there are reasons to trust our partners. That is why, in fact, we continue to trust them. The purpose of these comments is clear… This is the general strategy of Russia, which they constantly follow. But, it seems to me, it is simply necessary to pay attention to the fact that the author of these comments is not only a criminal who is guilty of the crime of aggression against Ukraine, but also a pathological liar the sex house in Mariupol and the atrocities of the Russians in Buch are all productions, fakes. It seems to me that to accept any of his revelations after these words is to disrespect yourself,” Tykhi emphasized.
Separately, the spokesman noted that the energy policy of Slovakia’s Prime Minister Fico goes against the position of the European Union and European countries.
“We gave the example of Austria, a country that was really infrastructurally and systemically dependent on Russian energy carriers for many years. And now we see how this country gives up on Russian energy carriers. Therefore, here the question is not about the possibility or impossibility of giving up Russian gas or energy carriers, but the question is the desire to do it. Why Prime Minister Fico does not have such a desire and continues to promote the interests of Russian energy carriers – this is the big question that the president asked Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine, and we bet,” Tykhy noted.
In addition, with regard to further talks on the topic of gas supply, Ukraine has repeatedly confirmed that in the event of an appeal from the European Commission on this issue, Ukraine is ready to consider this appeal at the expense of the supply of energy carriers.
“However, Ukraine’s position remains that there will be no transit of Russian gas through the territory of Ukraine from January 1. We have not yet heard any additional statements by Prime Minister Fico on this matter. We understand that this has caused certain processes and in the middle of Slovak society and politics. We are following these processes,” Tykhy stressed.
Russia’s latest statements on negotiations to end the warAs UNIAN reported, on December 26, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin said that Slovakia was allegedly ready to provide a platform for negotiations on the war in Ukraine.
In addition, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Serhiy Lavrov, stated that allegedly France “behind closed channels” several times offered Russia to establish a dialogue regarding Ukraine without the participation of Kyiv.
