Sibiga will hold a number of meetings in Washington, but will not go to the “Weimar Triangle+” meeting

On Tuesday, November 19, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiga will visit Washington. He will speak at a special meeting of the UN Security Council in New York, the agency’s press service said.

“In the American capital, Andrii Sybiga will hold important meetings at the US State Department and on Capitol Hill,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs says.

The press service specified that “Sybiga will also take part in special hearings of the Helsinki Commission of the US Congress before 1,000 days of a full-scale Russian invasion.”

At the same time, Sibiga will not be present on November 19 at the meeting of foreign ministers in Warsaw, which was convened by Poland’s chief diplomat, Radosław Sikorski, to discuss, in particular, the situation in Ukraine.

Last week, Sikorsky announced that negotiations regarding the Russian Federation’s war against Ukraine will be held in Warsaw in the “Weimar Triangle+” format. It was noted that representatives of Germany, Poland and France, as well as Italy and Great Britain will be present at the meeting. Kaya Callas, who is to become the new high representative of the European Union for foreign policy and security policy, will also be present. Sikorsky also reported that Sybig was among the guests.

“At my request, we invite the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andrii Sybigu. This last case (Sibiga’s invitation – ed.) is key. This is what Donald Tusk insists on and what is Poland’s policy: nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine,” Sikorskyi said on November 16 during a meeting with residents of Roketnytsia, Greater Poland Voivodeship.

The “Weimar Triangle” is an informal international association of Germany, Poland and France, which emerged in 1991. Numerous meetings of foreign ministers and heads of state take place within the group. The goal of the group was to promote Poland on the way to joining the European Union and NATO. However, the association continues to exist even after the accession of the Republic of Poland to NATO (1999) and the EU (2004) and is one of the initiatives for the development of EU ideas.
