Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with Deputy Secretary of State acting as the US Special Representative for Ukraine’s Economic Recovery Richard Verma.

According to the Ukrainian official, “Verma’s second visit to Kyiv in recent months demonstrates the intention to continue intensive cooperation.”

“We talked, in particular, about investments in Ukraine. He thanked the US State Department for the decision to reduce the risk level of travel to 9 of our regions. This is an important decision for people and business. They also discussed government mechanisms for promoting foreign investments. The Strategic Investment Council was recently created, which aims to systematize priority projects for cities and communities,” Shmyhal noted.

In September, US President Joe Biden announced the allocation of a total of $7.9 billion in US aid to Ukraine within the framework of the Ukraine Security Promotion Initiative.

Since the beginning of the Russian invasion on February 24, 2022, as of October 15, the United States has allocated more than $59.1 billion in security assistance to Ukraine.
